After writing the last chapter, what now?

Hey all, I just wrapped up the final chapter of my novel and am realizing how rough some parts still feel. I’ve been reading about manuscript editing and wondering how much it can really transform a draft. Have you gone through it before? Did it change your book significantly, or was it more of a cleanup process?

After finishing my last chapter, I felt strangely stuck. The writing part was over, but the “what now?” hit harder than expected. A friend from US Online Class Taker joked that it felt like prepping for finals all over again like when they needed help with HESI exam stress and didn’t know the next step. I guess wrapping up a book is similar: you celebrate, then quietly panic, then figure out editing, formatting, and everything that follows.
